Hola! k so this week has been a little bit better. I'm starting to get into the groove of 16-hour study days and trying to take everything seriously! I'm putting the language down like a fat kid eating cake! Me and my comp, Elder Wright and keeping each other motivated and its good, because we need that!! Anyway, no sign on the visas yet, but were doing alright. We get to go to the temple today, and it is always an uplifting experience. I feel like I'm finally starting to see spiritual growth, something I have not seen in a while!! It feels good. I cannot wait to share the gospel with the sweet short brown people of Peru, because I know that it will change their lives forever!!!
Love you guys!

Week 3 at the MTC - Things are better
SEPTEMBER 13, 2011
Alright so this week was a little bit better. I feel like I am learning the language a little bit more each day. My heard hurts, and that's when I know I'm learning! Anyway, I'm basically on the same schedule for the next weeks till I leave! I'm having a great time. and Im grateful for all of the much needed supplies you have been sending. I'm basically up to 220 weight wise.......I'll hit 230 before I leave!! haha This is the biggest that I have ever been in my entire life! It's alright hahah! Anyway tell Spencer and Nick to keep their chins up high. They are champions. Anything is possible if you just try. Don't be scared to approach those you don't know, because that's what a mission is! I hope you are all having fun, and finishing the garage before I get home!! ahah Thanks for the pics. It's nice to see the whole fam! Anyway, I'll hit you up when I get my visa....ahahah like that will happen ;) jk but seriously! :) Tell my friends hi if you see them. To all those few chosen ones that are reading this just know I love you!!!

Week 2 1/2 at the MTC - Visa Problems
SEPT 9, 2011 (Alex was supposed to go to the Lima Peru MTC on Sept 14)
Hi, so here's what's happening on the travel situation. Only 1 out of the 6 Elders got his visa passes, yeah that was basically a big downer. I was mad!! But anyway, it looks like me and my other buddies are stuck here for probably another 7 weeks, depending on the situation. I'll let you know if anything else changes. Pray for me. Today was very rough. I'm trying my hardest to be positive!! I love you guys!! Anyway, I'll get through it! I just gotta give it my all...so don't worry about me leaving any time soon. I'll be alright. I promise. All I need is to get used to the MTC. It gets old quick!! Ha ah. But you've got to learn to ride a bike to enjoy riding, and that means falling off. So right now, that applies to the MTC. This is the learning stage, the hard part. But you gotta do it to enjoy yourself.
Love you,
Elder Pinegar

Week 2 and Going Strong
SEPT 7, 2011
So the days are starting to go by much faster, it feels like its only been a week, yet it has been 2 haha That's a good thing im guessing! Me and the district have been finding ways to keep ourselves entertained while still learning Spanish, that get difficult sometimes!! Basketball is getting old and I'm starting to lose some of my figure, so I teamed up with some other elders and we decided to go and work out to kinda stay in shape. Anyway the packages that I got were nice! They made my whole day!! and I was able to share the food with my district! Anyway, we are all getting along well, although there are some very distinct personalities ( Me being one of them) haha . Spanish is a language that is much easier to learn than that of English, We have a teacher that is a native of Mexico and is learning English here so he can go to school. It is very humbling to talk to him in Spanish because we quickly realize how little we know!! It's great to have a native teacher, because he helps us learn the "real" way to speak.
Keep it real and always try to do your best. That's what will bring you real success!! Anyway write me a lot this week cause that's all that I have to look forward to at the end of the day. It really helps me when I'm feeling down!
Love Elder Pinegar!!!

Love Elder Pinegar!!!
He's at the Provo MTC - Week 1
Elder Pinegar arrived at the Provo, UT MTC on 8/24/2011. After a last meal of sushi and few tearful goodbyes he headed off to train for missionary work including learning the Spanish language.
Here's an excerpt of his first letter sent on 8/31/11:
So I gotta say that the MTC has been a little rough. It's a very strict schedule that we have to follow. Over the past few days it has gotten better, because I'm getting more accustomed to the rigorous schedule. I've seen all my friends that are here. It was nice. Good to see that they all stayed here- haha. The food here is alright. But definitely not as good as I could ever make :) My companions are pretty cool. Luckily, they are somewhat normal. ha ha. We are in a room with two companionships. Our room is a little bit different however. One of our companions decided to bounce on us the second day, so we got put or should I say organized ourselves into a trifecta..and we call ourselves "Los Tres Amigos." We get along well and are helping to build each other up. The MTC is hard, very hard. I am trying my best to be positive, although hard at times, I know it has to be in order to learn and appreciate the language and gospel principles. I'm learning the language and feel like I am doing fine, and feel great about it. I'm trying to treat the MTC like school....15 hours of school. Ha ha. Talk about studies!! Everyone in my district is trying hard and are very devoted. It is tough to teach because I want to convey all these feelings I have, but I cannot because of my language limitations. I would have to say that that is the hardest part of this whole thing. I love you guys and am thankful for all you do. I like getting letters. It is a real boost at the end of the day!!
Love,
Elder Pinegar
